From the interior with smallest scale and simplest functional schema to the interior with largest scale and complex functional spaces, interior design develops within the framework of a specific and distinct ‘main idea’.
This main idea is carried out with the phenomenon of ‘concept’, which guides the interior design and will ensure the harmonious coexistence of all formal, functional and aesthetic decisions.
It will create a general atmosphere in the interiors; it will be correct to create unity of understanding and style and to create a concept with function in this framework and to consider all spatial design decisions in this parallel.
Creating a general atmosphere that provides integrity in interior design, a distinct design understanding and a unity of style becomes important in terms of perceiving, adopting and making the space livable. The functional requirements to be placed in the space are defined when designing and programming the interior, and the design is primarily planned in this direction. At the theoretical level, the ideas created on topics such as form, creating different effects, technical and aesthetic uses of materials, combinations of colors and shapes, and what drives all these ideas is the function of space, that is, creating spatial arrangements in which the user can perform his/her actions in line with his/her wishes and needs.
The light values of the space, the current circulation characteristics, the formation and positions of architectural elements such as columns, windows, doors, floors should be considered as the starting point in creating a general and harmonious main theme in interior design. The conceptual approach, which is derived from both functional requirements and existing space data, becomes important in creating a harmonious and holistic interior space.
In terms of ensuring integrity in the design, interior design, which consists of many different and independent parts, should be related to a distinct and highlighter theme. Thus, in order to create a distinctive image in design, all environmental values that make up the design should be discussed with a holistic approach.
For example: The creation of all details such as floor, wall, ceiling arrangements and design decisions for lighting and reinforcement elements in a restaurant interior design, textile elements, accessories and even more, all the details such as the menu, the clothes of the employees will determine the perceptual integrity of the space and accordingly the success of the design and the continuity of the design will be achieved. All the internal values of the design, are expected to exhibit defined features and solutions. The qualities in the formation of the design should retain their value in the spread over time.
